Agadir Pepper Day, April 6th, 2006

More than 80 key pepper players attended the first Pepper Day in Agadir, Morocco, to exchange their views on blocky peppers.

Several speakers shared their experiences: Hein Bemelmans, Marketing Director of The Greenery, provided a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the key market dynamics in EAME; Juan Ignacio Requena, from the Trade Integral Investment company, gave specific advice about how to produce and maintain a high standard of fruit quality; and Christophe Moulin, Market Manager Maghreb, and Jean Louis Nicolet, Pepper Breeder, both of whom work for Syngenta Seeds Vegetables S&G brand, informed the audience about the advantages of the latest pepper varieties for the Moroccan market.
The event proved to be an excellent forum for the exchange of views on market trends and the discovery of opportunities for gaining a successful foothold in the European market, paving the way for fruitful business for every player in the business chain.The slogan "It is time to change" captured the participants’ imagination and also helped to reinforce the innovative image of Syngenta. The Pepper Day finished with a traditional Moroccan meal served inside Berber tents.

S&G is Syngenta’s horticultural seed brand for vegetables in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia and for flowers worldwide. The event focused on the blocky pepper, a successful variety in most export markets.
This gathering offered representatives from the most important pepper companies the chance to exchange their opinions and points of view. It was also an excellent opportunity to visit Agadir, the most important region in Morocco for blocky pepper production.
